tyttörakkauszine
The performing arts designers Iida Hägglund, Helka Saariniemi, Jenni Räsäsen, Vilma Vantola and Eeva-Maaria Halonen have collectively created a stage zine and a performance installation.
The grief of the grieving girl is a resistance in a society that is typically stuck in the idea of presenting girlhood as joyful and fun. For many, girlhood is an experience of otherness, and grief girlhood is a subversion of patriarchy by resting in sadness. The work normalises failed narratives of girlhood and takes a stand against hyperbolic and performance-oriented boss girl feminism. If girlhood is experienced together, will there be collective understanding, liberation, sincere joy and love?
tyttörakkauszine is an attempt to describe, perform, love and write oneself and one's girlhood, both present and the already forgotten. It opens up a passage into five different experiences rooted in girlhood, as well as into a shared landscape that they form. tyttörakkauszine is a hauntological, breathtaking, dramatic, yet plodding, naïve, melancholic and yet silly, sad girl.
